History

Çeşme is one of the leading historical and touristic districts of Turkey, established on the shores of the Aegean Sea, with its 3000 years of history and location, which has hosted many societies including Ionians, Lydians, Romans, Pergamans, Greeks, Arabs and Turks. It is located at the westernmost part of the Silk Road and is directly connected to Izmir by highway. It is also opposite the island of Chios.

Following the acquisition of the operating rights of Çeşme Port from the Privatization Administration and Türkiye Denizcilik İşletmeleri A.Ş. on 06.06.2003:

  • To increase the effectiveness and efficiency of port services and to ensure maximum capacity utilization of resources,
  • Contributing to the national and regional economy,
  • To manage ports with modern operating techniques and practices,
  • Creating a flexible tariff structure in line with market economy conditions,
  • To meet the upper and infrastructure investment requirements of the port and to ensure that it keeps pace with technological developments.
  • Increase employment and ensure favorable working conditions,
  • Investments continued to operate the ports in a competitive environment according to commercial principles, and the port area, which was 27,000 m2 at the time of transfer, was expanded to 85,000 m2 .

A Temporary Storage area was established and put into service at a distance of 3 km from the port, and an area of 45,000 m² was purchased to be used as a storage area in the future.

On the other hand, considering the increase in the length and width of the new generation ships and the increase in the number of passengers they carry, the length of our existing pier was extended from 150 meters to 322 meters, and a Ro-Ro pier consisting of 5 dolphins with a length of 213 meters was built and put into service in order to prevent the traffic of Ro-Ro ships and cruise ship traffic from affecting each other.

In addition, our marine vessels have been renewed in accordance with the Tugboat and Pilotage Regulation, and in this context, a tugboat with a towing/pushing power of 30 tons and a water & foam sprayed fire extinguishing capacity of 1,200 m3 /hour and a pilot boat capable of 24 mph have been put into service.
